Blog comments feature and our new Facebook page : 13 Sep 2009

Good day to all,

The big news from HealthyPeople is the addition of the comments feature on our blog (formerly newsletter) page. Aspects of this new feature include:

  • Rather than a monthly newsletter email, you can now be notified of blogs as they are posted - you can turn this on/off in your 'Update registration' area.
  • Where a particular post is of interest to you, you have the option to be notified of any other comments to that post as they are listed.
  • You have the ability to post anonymously.
  • If you think a particular comment from another user is inappropriate, there is a link to send a notification to myself and, if necessary, the comment will be removed.

I invite you to add a comment to say 'hi' to myself and other industry professionals, familiarise yourself with how it works and provide any feedback.

In addition to the above update we have a number of further improvements to the site being released over the coming weeks. I'll post a blog explaining each as they are added.

With regards to listing job ads, many of you may be aware that in addition to listing positions on HealthyPeople and Seek, we have also been listing positions on Facebook, Twitter and LinikedIn. A greater understanding of Facebook has resulted in the movement away from our Facebook Group to a HealthyPeople Facebook Fan Page. The primary reason for this is functionality. With the Fan Page you have the ability to comment/question anything that may be listed. My intention is to create greater communication opportunities between yourself and employers. If you are on Facebook, I invite you to become a Fan (http://www.facebook.com/pages/HealthyPeople/124295604311).

Whether via the comments on our blog, via Facebook or more conventional means, I look forward to any feedback/questions you may have.

Regards, Dennis Hosking.

Our new Keyword search makes things even easier : 21 May 2010

Our intention is to make finding your next and best industry opportunity easier. To this end, our latest feature is one of our BEST YET! From our home page you can now search our entire database for opportunities that suit you based on a keyword which also includes suburbs and employer names. Click on the 'Keyword search' link on our home page, start typing in a word and the system will provide relevant matches. You select the most appropriate one and VIOLA! Any relevant jobs, employer profiles or business/franchise opportunities will be listed.

Furthermore, if you happen to select a suburb and we have more opportunities within 5km of your selection, a 'See also' feature will appear, letting you know there are other opportunities that may be of interest. Any feedback on this new feature is welcome (either email me or add a comment to this blog).

Throughout 2010 there has been a big increase in the number of employers accessing our lists of candidates. If you are looking for the next step in your career, moving to a new state or ready for the next management role that becomes available, get your details on HealthyPeople. When listed, we send an email to all employers in the locations nominated by you. You can block employers and you will receive an email with contact details if anyone downloads your CV. Even if you are not interested in being listed, provided us with the relevant details and uploaded a CV so that I can reach you if something awesome comes up (read: head-hunt you for management roles!).

Email notifications about our blog or listed jobs: If the blog bores you (as if!), or the job notifications are a little frequent, please log in to HealthyPeople and head to the 'Update registration' page and make the required email notification changes. Forgotten your login details? Use the 'Forgotten your password' link to have all the relevant details emailed to you. If you have any trouble, please send me an email.

I'm curious as to what people think of Twitter as a tool for industry professionals. Select the comments link in the blog to provide your opinion.

Late news;

  • Massive $50K base plus uncapped commission for a Senior Membership Consultant with Genesis in Maidstone VIC. Details.
  • Club Manager role in Mitcham with Fernwood Women's Health Club. Hit membership targets and earn up to $84K per annum. Details.

A single click will now reveal jobs within 2km, 5km or 10km : 04 Oct 2010

Once you're logged in to HealthyPeople, with a single click, you can now reveal jobs that suit your profile within 2km, 5km or 10km of your suburb.

You may be thinking 'but I can search for suburbs using the tag search on the home page'. True, however a suburb tag will only come up if there is a listed job/employer profile/busines opportunity in that particular suburb. These new links, on the other hand, will reveal all available opportunities in relation to your suburb specifically.

Currently this functionality is only available to professionals with a full membership.

Have you used this new feature? Feel free to add your comments below.

Are you included on any employers 'Dream Team' list? : 08 Feb 2011

HealthPeople has released a fantastic new feature to connect you with interested employers more easily.

When you apply for a job, get listed or send an application to an employer in response to their profile, if that employer thinks you are a great candidate but has no opportunities at this time, they can add your details to their private 'Dream Team' list.

When an opportunity arises, that employer can then get in touch with you quickly and easily.

If you happen to be included on an employers Dream Team list you will see a notification on your welcome page when logged in. For those professionals with a full registration, this notification will link to a list of relevant employers. A great place to start if looking for a new job!

If you have any questions or feedback, please don't hesitate to be in touch.

Important information for all our registered professionals : 18 May 2011

We've made some significant changes to the functionality of HealthyPeople for our registered professionals.

First of all, we're offering more.

Even with a basic HealthyPeople registration, you can now filter the type of jobs that we email you about. For example, let's say you're currently working as a Personal Trainer and you'd like to know whenever a PT Manager role or Corporate Health role becomes available. Simply head to the 'Email me' section of your account and select the relevant job categories and hit 'submit'. It's that easy.

Secondly, if we know what sort of roles you're interested in, why not let the employers contact you directly?

We are releasing a new feature for employers that will allow them to view the qualifications, location (suburb only) and experience of candidates within a specific job category - they will not be able to see any identifying information. By default, everyone currently registered with HealthyPeople is set to 'private'. This means that if an employer likes the look of your profile, they can send you an email via the HealthyPeople web site about a job they would like to fill. It is then your choice as to whether you respond.

If you wish to increase the chances of being contacted by an employer with a good career opportunity, head to the 'Email me' section and set the relevant button to the 'public' option. Your details will still not be visible on our site, but employers who have purchased a Business Membership will be emailed your CV directly rather than having to send you the details first and hope you respond. You will be notified whenever your CV has been requested.

Do you wish to block an employer? This is easily done in the 'Search/block/unblock an employer' section.

Do you need to do anything? In many cases, no. Obviously the more up to date your profile is, the better we can assist.

How does this differ from our paid candidate listing service? In short, if you want more opportunities right away, we can send your details directly to managers all over Australia letting them know you're available for work in certain job categories. This is a lot more proactive than hoping you get picked from a list of hundreds!

Finding a career path in the health and fitness industry is not always easy. The only way to ensure that the best opportunities do not pass you by is if you increase the likelihood that those opportunities will be offered directly to you. That's what our recent changes are about; making YOU easier to find when the right opportunity presents itself.

As ever, your feedback and comments are welcome.

Track your job and employer profile applications via 'My applications'. : 30 Oct 2011

In response to a number of suggestions I am pleased to announce the release of two new features for confirming and tracking your applications.

In the first instance, we amended the application confirmation emails to show the business name and location - especially relevant when multiple applications were made on the same day.

The second feature, released yesterday, is a readily available list of all applications made via HealthyPeople.

To view, log in to HealthyPeople, select the 'My applications' link on your welcome page. The resulting page will show a list of application dates, business names, locations and contact persons. There is also a link to view the cover letter you sent with each application.

As ever, any feedback you have on this new service is welcomed.
